The Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network is a coalition of women and men of all ages and races committed to supporting, promoting and defending the balanced, positive portrayal of women in entertainment and society.

WEEN Vision

WEEN is comprised of individuals dedicated to improving the quality of life of women worldwide. Representing the entertainment industry, WEEN has taken a leadership role in the balanced portrayal of women and partners with like-minded organizations and individuals to provide educational programs targeting women.

WEEN grants scholarships each year to deserving college students and young women entrepreneurs. WEEN also provides mentorship match-making and programs year round with the following focus:

2015 Academy Auditions Flyer

The WEEN Academy is a FREE 4-week crash course in the entertainment business with leading  celebrities and entertainment industry executives.  The first of its kind, the WEEN Academy was developed by the Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network (WEEN) to identify and prepare the next generation of entertainment industry leaders.

Top WEEN Academy students will receive 1) official WEEN certification 2) a WEEN mentor for twelve months to support our graduate’s progress post program, and  3) access to internships in the entertainment business.

–Must be 18-22 years of age (during the time of auditions)

–Motivated, driven women with interests in working in the entertainment industry

–If chosen, must be available to attend the WEEN academy in New York City July 1—August 1. From 9am-2pm Monday-Friday.

–please dress in business attire for auditions

What to bring to the WEEN academy auditions?

1—One page resume

2–Two references

At the bottom of the resume, please add one personal AND one business reference (name, email address, contact #) (recommendation letters are NOT needed. References will only be contacted if you are in the final rounds to enter the academy).

3—Two 8×10 clear color pictures of yourself. (paper copies are acceptable). Please staple one of your pictures on the back of your resume.

4—A printed copy of one writing sample (500 word max/typed, double spaced) describing a personal dilemma that you have faced/are facing and the steps you took to overcome it.

What to expect at the WEEN academy auditions?

WEEN judges will be looking for motivated, driven, critical thinkers who can efficiently communicate their goals, possess leadership skills with impressive knowledge regarding various faucets of the entertainment industry. Please carve out the full day in case you are called back to participate in the last round of auditions taking place ~12:30pm.

Judges will pick up to 30 young ladies to enter the 2015 WEEN academy.

***Early arrival is suggested. Judges will interview as many applicants as possible before 12:00 in order to invite finalists back for the final afternoon round.
